Useful Boavista Infos and Tips

Almost all supermarkets and restaurants/bars accept credit cards, or alternatively cash in escudos or euros. The exchange rate is 1 euro to 110 escudos. Exchanging money locally is no problem; for example, there are two supermarkets in the center of Sal Rei where you can easily exchange money.

Getting a taxi is very easy; there's one waiting for passengers "on every corner" - the price for short trips is between 1 and 3 euros, please don't pay more... otherwise the prices will increase.

Cars can be rented, but they are very expensive, around 90 euros per day... it's best to book a taxi with a driver, which we can gladly arrange for you, or you can reserve one in advance from your home country.

Occasionally, some of our guests experience stomach/intestinal problems, mainly due to food changes - we recommend drinking plenty of water, protecting yourself from the sun and ideally bringing along tried and tested home remedies/medications.

We definitely recommend bringing mosquito spray and ointment for bites, as there are more or fewer mosquitoes depending on the time of year. The Cala da Lua Aparthotel has mosquito nets, and it would also be great to bring a mosquito plug-in, which can also be bought locally.

Ideally, you should have two different wetsuits; a shorty and a 3/2 or 4/3 are perfectly sufficient depending on the time of year. In October/November, you really only need a thin wetsuit or a shorty.
